A miracle adoption story from a close friend of mine...

Obviously adoption is not a couple's first choice to have a baby but after a long road of infertility we were open to that option. We tried for 4 years to get pregnant, oral fertility meds, and 3 artificial inseminations and never had a positive pregnancy test...not one!! We decided to give it a rest because it was consuming our lives. That same month of putting it to rest a friend of mine mentioned she new a young girl that was pregnant and knew she was not going to be able to keep the baby. I kind of joked and said GIVE HER MY NUMBER! The friend later called and said are you serious? I said yes! My husband and I talked about it and were scared to death but had feelings of peace about it too. We decided that if she called us we would consider adoption. I always wanted to be pregnant but got to the point where I just wanted a baby and did not care about the pregnancy part. She called and things went into motion very fast-she was already 5 months pregnant. We contacted an adoption agency who told us also to contact a lawyer too. The adoption agency did a home study, application and all the legal stuff even though we had already done the work -we had the pregnant mommy, they didn't have to "find" one for us. I went to the rest of her prenatal appointments with her, she handed all the ultrasound pictures over to me (wow...I'm tearing up as I type this!) Anytime she talked about him she referred to me as his mommy ;) She was/is an amazing, strong young woman!! She called me when she went into labor and we met her and some of her family at the hospital for the delivery. My husband and I helped with her labor, he was born and she asked my husband to cut the cord...he did...how awesome is that?? The hospital gave us a room for the next two days and he roomed in with us. She came down the hall to visit some too. I asked her prior to the delivery if she had a name for him and she said no- he is yours. We named him Logan. He (and she) changed our lives forever!! Everybody told us how lucky we were that things happened the way they did but it was not luck....God's perfect plan and timing!! Adoption has helped me to remember everybody has a story and we should embrace the story God has written for us. It has helped me to remember not to take things for granted and reminded me not to get wrapped up in the things I cannot control. Adoption is where my prayer life started and wasn't even sure how to pray or exactly who I was praying to. I know that sounds silly but prayer life is so much different now that I am a Christian. My advice would be not to forget to enjoy life and not to neglect what you already have while waiting on your little one to arrive.
